What’s new at Cheap Wedding Success

I’ve been busy adding lots of new articles to the site in the past few weeks. I’ve been mainly focusing on wedding favours and sourcing lots of great ideas on how to have cheap wedding favours. Here’s a summary of the section:

Cheap Wedding Favours Come All Wrapped Up
This article looks at how to eliminate the need for favour bags and boxes by using favours that are either already wrapped up or don’t need wrapping up. From pre-packaged sweets to ideas for free standing favours, this article outlines them all.

Cheap Make Your Own Wedding Favours
Making your own wedding favours is one way to really lower your costs. There’s chocolate recipes, candle ideas and lots more. Why not try out some of these ideas?

Cheap Wedding Favour Boxes and Bags
Once you’ve made your favours, you’ll need something to put them in. Here I cover some simple ideas for making your own favour bags and boxes to where to source cheap wedding favour boxes and bags.

Wedding Favour Seeds, Plants and Flowers
Green or garden wedding favours are becoming more and more popular with brides-to-be. They’re environmentally friendly and make a useful gift for your guests. This article covers lots of great ideas for favours from your garden – and not just for green-fingered brides.

I've also been adding to the wedding stationery section too. The best part is there are lots of new ideas to help you make your own wedding invitations. Why not get some inspiration now?

5 ways to save on... dresses

For this newsletter, I’m focusing on wedding dresses. Here’s my top five ways to save:

1. Buy a dress ‘off-the-peg’. This means the dress is already designed and made up. You’ll only have it fitted to your size.

2. Go for dresses with less embellishments such as embroidery, beading or sparkly bits. They tend to be sewn on by hand and so increase the time making the dress, and of course, the end cost.

3. Avoid silk – it’s usually more expensive. Satin is probably your best bet for cheaper dresses.

4. Generally go for dresses that have less material. Simply put, the more material you have, the higher the cost of the dress. Go for short trains and A-line skirts, rather than full, gathered skirts.

5. Try mixing and matching different styles of dress. It might lower your cost, if you choose a cheaper skirt. This is only available with some designers, but it’s worth asking – a friend of mine saved about £200.

New cheap wedding tip

My favourite tip for this month is to try using bubbles. By using the ones in plastic pots for kids instead of a bubble machine you’ll save a fortune. The kids at the wedding will have fun and you’ll capture some lovely expressions on the faces of your guests as they watch the bubbles. It’s also a great idea if you can’t use confetti.

A good trick is to have your bridesmaids blow out the bubbles as you exit the venue as ‘Mr and Mrs’. Just make sure your photographer captures this moment!

Final thought from me

Well, the site’s going well and it’s slowly growing. I hope you’re getting lots out of it too. Over the coming weeks, I’m going to be looking at music and wedding rings. So watch out for some cheap wedding tips on these sections.

Stuart and I have also had an invite to our next wedding. Actually it was two invites, but unfortunately, they’re on the same day. So we’re off to Richmond in August and Stuart is an usher. I don’t think it’ll be a cheap wedding, but I’m sure they’ll be lots of juicy ideas to share!

See you next time!
