Autumn wedding ideas that won't break the bank
Autumn is such a pretty time of year to get married. Below are some ideas for some finishing touches for your autumn wedding, let them inspire you to come up with your own cheap wedding ideas.
Favours:
Since flower bulbs are planted in the autumn, it makes perfect sense to give them as favours at your autumn wedding. If you have a garden of perennials such as tulips or daffodils, you can easily dig them up to get the bulbs or they can be purchased in bulk. Package the bulbs in little muslin drawstring bags and then attach a note or a poem for your guests.
Cake:
Fruit is a great alternative to using flowers to decorate your wedding cake and it's cheaper too. You can have basket weave frosting to make an autumn fruit basket cake or you can simply place the fruit around the cake and between the layers. The deep colours of grapes, blackberries, strawberries look stunning.
Invitations:
There are many autumn themed stationery options that you can use to create your own invitations and stationery. I love the varieties with subtle leaves in the background and you can use raffia instead of ribbon to complete the look.
Decorations:
Sunflowers, dried flowers, coloured leaves, fruit, pumpkins and gourds can all be used to create autumn inspired centrepieces. Adding the element of candlelight creates a rich ambience too, particularly as it gets darker earlier in the evening.

Have you thought of?
Making toffee apples for your autumn wedding favours? They're easy to make and once dipped in the toffee, they can be rolled in crushed nuts, biscuits or little sweets. Wrap them in cellophane bags, tie with ribbon or raffia, and attach a little note. The note can be as simple as having your names and wedding date or your favourite poem or quote. Place an apple at each table setting or put them in a pretty basket for your guests to take on their way out.

Cheap wedding tip
This cheap wedding tip for finding jewellery and hair accessories comes from Emma.
“If, like me, you prefer to see something in the flesh before buying (one downside of internet shopping!) then have a look at your local Debenhams jewellery counter. I bought a really lovely tiara for only £28! The jewellery is by Jon Richard and they also do lovely, necklaces, earrings, hairs combs, etc.”
Great advice and good work finding a lovely tiara for only £28. Often bridal stores charge more money for the same items you can purchase in department stores or discount stores. It's always a good idea to comparison shop and watch for sales.

Final thought
No matter what season you choose to get married, using in-season elements is a great way to save money. The colours of the season can inspire you to create the cheap wedding you've always dreamed of. If you have a longer engagement, use that time to search for seasonal items that you can purchase on clearance at the end of the season.
