The venue is chosen. You know the dress you want. Now you just need some beach wedding ideas to finish off your planning. How do you organise flowers, cakes and photographers from another country? Sit back, relax, it’s easy.

Often with a wedding package abroad, you can get most basic things through your hotel or package company. They will offer a one-size-fits-all cake, flowers, favours etc.

Alternatively, you can do it yourself. You’re more likely to get what you want, better quality and pay less. Your venue or hotel will be able to point you in the right direction to source these particular services locally.

Here’s a heap of beach wedding ideas to get you started:

Beach wedding flowers
You can easily get standard style bouquets abroad, but you probably won’t get the selection that you could in the UK. One bonus is you will get lots of amazing tropical flowers. They’re often quite large, so you could use one stem. A single stem bouquet will be striking, but also relaxed enough to fit with a beach wedding.

Some good examples of tropical flowers are orchids, calla lily, anthurium and bird of paradise. They all make great single stem bridal bouquets and are cost effective too.

Beach wedding photographers
Many of the resorts will provide a limited number of photographs included in the price. However, you can’t be sure of the photographers experience or style and it’s important to have great memories of your big day.

Where there are weddings, there are photographers. Have a hunt around and ask all the questions that you would when searching for a photographer in the UK. Call them, talk to them, view their previous work and compare them with others at your destination.

Beach wedding invitations
You’re having a beach wedding, so you want your style to shine through on your stationery.

Customise your own stationery with sea-horses, shells, starfish, mermaids, tropical fish or flowers for a special beach wedding theme.

Perhaps use the same flowers on your wedding invitations as in your bouquet.

Beach wedding cake
Your hotel or resort may provide you with a cake, but if you want something special, then you maybe better bringing your own. Check with your hotel about if it is ok to bring your own cake into the country.

Your beach wedding theme can run into your cake too. You can ice your cake to reflect whatever theme you choose. Make sure you brief your cake maker carefully. Send photos, descriptions and clear instructions of exactly what you want.

Fresh flowers, the same as your bouquet, will work especially well on an iced cake.

Beach wedding favours
Depending on the number of guests at your beach wedding, you should be able to bring the favours with you. This means you really can go to town should you wish. Some of my favourites are:
- Photo holders with a seashell base
- Seashell shaped sweets
- Beach theme photo frames
- Mini flip flops with seaside theme
- Shell shaped favour boxes

Avoid chocolate as it will melt and avoid live plants as your guests won’t be able to bring them back into the UK from abroad!

Most hotels have a wedding organiser – a resource you’ll be able to tap in to. They will often be able to help with your beach wedding ideas and planning as well as advise you of local suppliers.

Don’t forget, the more you can organise yourself, the cheaper it will be. You’ll pay for the service of getting the wedding organiser at the destination to help you. Do it yourself and save a packet.
