Can We Have A Marquee Wedding?

by Sophie Quinton
(Sidcup, Kent)

We would like a wedding venue that we can supply our own food and drink as we have a day list for 120 and 150 additional guests for the evening and will prove too expensive.

We are based in Kent on the outskirts of South East London. We would consider a marquee, but don't know of a location we could have this. Any ideas?

How to find a low cost venue

Ask your own question

Answer:

Just because you don’t have the space for a marquee, doesn’t mean you can’t have one as your wedding venue.

I did a bit of research on this and spoke to a marquee company, who said that in the past they’ve provided the land and marquee for a wedding. They also said that they have erected marquees in hire cottages too, so all is not lost. I would recommend calling around a few marquee companies near to where to you live and ask them.

Now, don’t be surprised if some of them laugh and don’t be disheartened. It’s a strange request, but it can be done. Tell them exactly what you want and see what they recommend.

By the way, you’ll also have to pay for the ‘hire’ of the land too – which will push up your costs significantly. I don’t know what your wedding budget is, but make sure you get a good grasp of the costs involved before settling on this idea.

Best of luck

Nicola
