Cancer Pins as Wedding Favours: Nice or Nasty?!

by Emma

Breast cancer ribbon

Breast cancer ribbon

For our wedding favours, we'd like to present female guests with a breast cancer pin and male guests with a prostate or testicular cancer pin. We would also include a special message saying a donation had donation had been made to the charity on the guests behalf.

As we have both lost people to cancer; my fiance's father, both my grandfathers and some friends, this is very close to hearts.

I think this works because it gives the charity money and the guests something to keep. My sister thinks this is morbid, what's your opinion?

Thanks

Emma

Answer:

Emma, I think it's lovely idea and makes a welcome change from the usual almonds or other chocolates. It's personal, sentimental and something that I think your guests will wear with pride. It's also a great tribute to the ones you've lost and a great way to remember them on your special day.

All the best

Nicola

Lottery Favours
by: Nikki

I think it is a great idea.
I actually work for Severn Hospice in shropshire and we have just started to promote the idea of using our lottery tickets as favours. It supports a great cause and gives your guest the chance to win up to £2000.
It is a lovely idea if you have a connection with the charity you pick too.

Charities

You can normally get them direct from the charity. Look up your preferred charity and they usually have an online shop.

?????
by: Marie

How on earth can this be a bad idea?

It's a good cause?!

I'm also planning my wedding and think this the best wedding favour idea ever. Surely those who have lost people to cancer and who are themselves affected by cancer would appreciate this and not take it the wrong way....correctme if I'm wrong by all means!

Nice
by: Anonymous

I am looking into this as well. My family has been particularly affected by cancer. Many of them won't be there as they lost their battle like my dad, so it's a nice way for all the family to "give" to something that has affected them, rather than throwing the traditonal almonds in the bin!

I appreciate your view but the reason we are doing this is precisely *because* we have lost people to cancer, both of my grandfathers and my fiances father. We feel it is a good way to help the cause while remember those we lost to it :)

Surely those people would think that this was particularly special and would understand?

Not so good if you have people at your wedding who have lost a loved one to cancer.

A winner!
by: Rachel

Definitely a winner if you ask me. We bought '100 school dinners' with the money we would have spent on favours per table. I liked it as it got the guests thinking just before they tucked into our wedding breakfast!

We also had a charity gift list in addition to our normal one - which was well received.
