Tips and Ideas for Cheap
Wedding Accessories

These tips for cheap wedding accessories will ensure you save your cash, so you can spend it on bigger items such as your dress or reception. It's easy to fork out hundreds on accessories, but these tips will help you stay on budget.

1. Have your make-up done at the beauty counter in your local department store. It’ll be free and a professional finish!

Borrow a friend's wedding garter2. Borrow a friends garter – it will add to you ‘old, new, borrowed, blue’.

3. Through a makeup party a few weeks before your wedding day. Virgin Vie and The Body Shop both do parties and as host, you’ll get a makeover and a number of freebies.

4. Don’t buy a bride’s emergency kit, have a bridesmaid put one together for you as part of their duties. It will keep them busy and save you money.

5. Get your friend to do your hair on the day – just ensure you have a few practice sessions beforehand to test out different styles.

Borrow your jewellery6. Borrow some of your mum’s jewellery – it will be your ‘old’ from ‘old, new, borrowed, blue’.

7. For the ‘blue’, sew a bit of blue ribbon or thread onto your underwear, garter or dress. It’s the cheapest way to get your ‘blue’.

8. Pop into Claire’s accessories for any hair pins, clips, pearls or last minute cheap wedding accessories.

9. Embroider or add sparkle to your wedding veil yourself. Adding a few sequins or crystals is easy and means you pay less for the basic veil.

10. Try making your own wedding accessories. Patterns for evening bags and pouches are easy to come by, or perhaps making your own tiara or decorating your own hair accessories?

Making your own is the biggest tip for cheap accessories and great if you're a crafty bride. Alternatively, borrow from your recently married friends. If you've got any more tips or ideas for cheap wedding accessories, let me know.
