Alternative Sources For
Cheap Wedding Bands

If you’re looking for cheap wedding bands, then you maybe surprised to learn that you can get a lot more for your money if you go to an antiques store, or buy second hand. With discounts up to 50% compared to new jewellery, it’s well worth considering.

Importantly, choosing once worn jewellery will allow you to get far more for your money – usually a higher quality metal or more metal than you would have got if you purchased new.

Second hand wedding ringsDon’t be put off by the idea of it being second hand. Most of this jewellery comes into the hands of the jeweller as heirlooms are sold or weddings are cancelled – so you can easily pick up stunning rings at bargain prices.

All the rings are polished and buffed, so they always look shiny new. And, more importantly, if you’re buying from a jeweller, then you’ll be able to get it certified so you know that you’re getting the real deal.

Don’t forget, when you’re buying second hand the price is often negotiable – so you could get an even better deal than you were expecting.

It’s not just wedding bands that you can find this way. You’ll find engagement rings are also plentiful! And in this area, you really can save a fortune.

Here’s some of the sources to find cheap wedding bands:

Jewellery shops on your high street
Secondhand wedding jewelleryAs I mentioned above, independent jewellers often sell second hand jewellery. There are hundreds of stores like this in Hatton Garden in London, the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham and on many high streets up and down the country. Just avoid the big names like Goldsmiths, Ernest Jones, etc as they only deal with ‘new’ (and generally overpriced) jewellery.

Antique stores
Most people wouldn’t think to look in antique stores for their wedding jewellery, but you’d be surprised to discover the prices if you did. The best antiques shops are those that specialise in jewellery – and a quick search on the internet using “antique jewellery [and where you live]” will bring up a wealth of places for you to try.

Don’t forget, any reputable antiques dealer should be able to provide you with certification if you need it.

Pawn shops
Pawn shops are actually a really good way to pick up cheap wedding bands. There's often a good selection to choose from and the prices are always low. They aren't however good for engagement rings as I find the stones are not that high quality. You probably won’t get a certificate stone, but if you really need something cheap, then you will find a bargain.

Shopping second hand is a great way to pick up good stones relatively cheaply. The settling may not be to your liking, but it’s easy to change that. Simply decide on the setting you want and get your local jeweller to reset the ring. You can even change the metal as well.

Cheap engagement ringsMy friend bought her engagement ring in a pawn shop and it was a lovely 1.5 carat, trilogy diamond ring. If she’d bought them new, they would have been three times the price. She wasn’t quite happy with the setting, so got her jeweller to change it. It made the ring feel more like hers and she loves it! You’ve just got to think a little differently and you could save thousands!
