Have a look on eBay for your wedding and bridesmaid dresses. You may think that the gowns will all be second hand and that you don't want to fork out a few hundred quid on something you've not even tried on yet... BUT...
I managed to pick my dress up on eBay for £15 plus P+P. I won the auction, so the seller sent me a form to send back all my measurements and any special requirements. I got a local dressmaker to do this for me - she charged me £5.
I havent received the dress yet, but I have read all the seller's feedback - all positive. It's due to arrive next week.
I figure, as I spent so little on the dress, even if it doesnt fit or doesn't look right, I can re-sell it on eBay and maybe make a bit of money on it!
I also bought a lovely bridesmaid dress on eBay for my sister for £30. As it was an eBay shop, the seller has various dress sizes of the same style.
I see that it can be risky buying from an unknown seller, but check out their feedback... the more they've got the more you know how reliable the seller is.

Thanks Abbegail!

I say, definitely. Well, I’m a little biased as I had a short wedding dress and it was great for me. The best thing about a short dress is it’s likely to be much cheaper. Quite simply, less material = less cost.
My short dress was only £225 from Monsoon. They’ve got a great bridal section and I think probably one of the best on the high street. Other great places for cheap wedding dresses are Debenhams and BHS.
