Cheap Wedding Dresses From Abroad

My wedding is coming up in August and most of the cheap dresses within my budget that I’ve seen are online. I am scared of ordering abroad because it might not look exactly the way I want it to be. What do you think?

I think your concerns are similar to many other brides-to-be considering buying online from abroad. There is the worry that it’s not going to be right, the end result doesn’t look good on, it will be late or that the material will be awful. These are all valid concerns.

At the same time, I’ve had several brides write to me telling me that they’ve been extremely happy with their online purchases. Some have bought from sellers on eBay, others have bought from cheap wedding dress websites based in Asia. Here are some of the tips they said:

- They’ve all said that they got measured professionally to make sure the measurements were as accurate as possible.
- They spoke in person with the people making the dress and asked about alterations. (The dress makers then made recommendations to them about the best way to get this done).
- They had the attitude that if it wasn’t right, they’d just sell it on eBay to get back their costs.

I’d also add that you should look for suppliers with good testimonials or references if you can and have a ‘plan B’ if it doesn’t quite go as you wish.

You’re in a difficult situation because you’ve not got much time. So also check that they can make and deliver the dress a couple of weeks before your wedding. If you need to have alterations, you’ll need to allow time for that too.
