Cheap Wedding Favour
Boxes and Bags

If you're making your own wedding favours or have bought loose sweets, you'll need cheap wedding favour boxes or bags to put them in.

Wedding favour boxes come in all shapes, sizes and colours, so you can always find something to fit your theme and budget.

From square boxes, rectangular boxes, top-hat style boxes for the male guests and even handbag shaped boxes for the ladies, there's a box that will work for you.

Favour bags too are very versatile. They give a softer look on the table and are roughly the same price as boxes. These too come in all different materials, colours, tying effects and shapes. You can even get cellophane bags, either plain or printed for a really modern look. So it's easy to match your theme or style.

Ideas for making your own cheap wedding favour boxes and bags

These ideas are intended to be very easy, quick and cheap to do.

Favour bag made from tulle
  • You can make simple bags for sweets by buying tulle from your local haberdashery. Use a plate, about 9 inches in diameter (depending on the size of bag you need), as a template and cut the tulle into circles. You could use standard scissors or pinking shears for a zig-zag edge. Then simply place the sweets or other gift in the centre, bunch up the tulle and tie with a small piece of matching ribbon. Really easy and very cheap!
  • Doilies make great cone shaped containers for small sweets (and are so cheap to buy). Select the size of doily you want e.g. small plate size or saucer size is usually best. Simply roll the doily into a cone shape. Fix the cone with a Glue Dot and you're done.
  • You can also use the cone trick with coloured paper or card, bought from your local stationer or craft shop. Follow the instructions for doilies above.
  • Buy plain boxes and decorate them yourself with ribbons and bows. It will be more cost effective for you doing it this way. You can buy ready-made bows or use pull-bows for an easy and very effective decoration. Again, just fix the ribbon or bow with a Glue Dot.
  • If you're feeling a little bit more adventurous you could make the box yourself. There are lots of templates around, but if you have to make lots it could take a lot of time. Good luck!
