My favourite option for bridesmaids dresses that would make a great cheap wedding gown is Jim Hjelm.
They have a fabulous range of long and short dresses in a huge variety of colours. This designer is also quite popular so their dresses are easy to find in most boutiques.
In my local wedding store, the assistant informed me that bridesmaids dresses are actually quite popular as wedding dresses. Some girls just don’t like all the fabric and weight of a big bridal gown, but more often than not, they’re tempted on price.
Bridesmaids dresses usually cost around £100 - £300. So if you can find a style that you're happy with, that's quite a saving on a normal dress.
With attendants dresses you always get a good range of colours as well. Most ranges have cream, white, off-white, ivory and champagne – so you still get the same colour selection as wedding dresses.
Pick up a cheap wedding dress from the designers
You can even pick up some incredible designer dresses from the likes of Vera Wang. Unfortunately, if you’re buying a bridesmaids dress from them, you usually have to buy a minimum of three dresses. The solution here is to sell the spare ones on eBay or in a second-hand wedding dress store – so you’re not out of pocket.
Simple, elegant dresses
Bridesmaids dresses these days come in an array of different styles. From long to short, tea length and prom. You won’t find full skirts, lots of fabric or tulle. But slender silhoettes and pretty detail.
For a more simple dress, then bridesmaids dresses are a perfect solution for a cheap gown. You could then add to the dress with a sash or your accessories.
