Think Creatively About Cheap Wedding Locations
For cheap wedding locations you have to think creatively. Any venue that is used regularly for weddings will always have high price tag - simply because the demand is high and the venue can charge what it wants. So, to get around this, you need to think a little differently and before you know, you'll find some little gems.
Newly renovated village hall
With lottery funding over the last ten years, many halls up and down the country have been renovated and some even torn down and rebuilt. So now, we have an abundance of village halls up and down the country serving as cheap wedding locations. For my own wedding, I viewed a hall just a mile from the church. It was only £125 and had French doors that opened up onto a patio. After the patio was a field and less then 60 yards was the River Wye. Absolutely idyllic. I had my heart set on a marquee in the back garden though and so didn’t take up this little gem – although I was very tempted. With the renovations creating amazing architectural structures and modern airy spaces, you’d be silly not to consider these cheap wedding locations. Picturesque settings
Many of these halls have picturesque village settings and good car parking facilities. Inside and you’ll often find the tables, chairs, crockery and catering facilities cost almost next to nothing or are included in the price. For most halls, the room hire will cost around £150, then with your furniture, catering facilities and equipment, it will take you to around £300. To put that into perspective, I spent £400 alone on the hire of my crockery, cutlery, serving dishes and linen. Sprucing up an old hall Even if your local hall is looking a bit weary, all is not lost. The outside entrance or front of the building can be transformed into the fairytale wedding venue you dreamt of, by using a marquee. This will allow your entrance to look magical as well as give you more space if you need it. Likewise, if the inside of the hall is looking a little too much like a community centre, you can use the linings and swags from inside a marquee inside your hall. Either way, don’t simply dismiss the idea of these cheap wedding locations, instead, think creatively about how you can improve the look of the venue and still save lots of money! Virtually all marquee companies will want to see the site where their services are required before giving a quote, so you’ve got nothing to lose. Let them give you ideas and inspiration of how they can make the venue look amazing. The little extras that make a difference
When you visit your hall, be sure to ask about local caterers. You’ll often get a better price if you choose local suppliers. Be sure to ask the caterers lots of questions though and work through the menu carefully with them – that way you’ll get exactly what you want. It’s also worth checking the licensing regulations of the venue. You may find that you’re not allowed to sell alcohol on the premises, but you can give it away. I found if you wanted a bar with one hall, you had to use their supplier – from the local pub. It’s worth checking. If you’re kitting out the venue with lots of decorations you’ll need to access it earlier that day, or even the night before. You will have to pay for this access, although it’s usually not much. Either way, it’s best to check what bookings they have, so you can set up and clear away easily.
