Cheap Wedding Reception Music Ideas

We are getting married in August and we are on a tight budget. I want there to be music at the wedding reception and I want everyone to have a good time, but I don't want to pay the price DJs want me to pay... Do you have any ideas?

There are a few options open to you, all of which will be much cheaper than hiring a DJ. Here are a couple of suggestions:
- Ask a friend to DJ for you, preferably one that can spin a few records (or CDs)
- Find a local band and ask them to do covers of your favourite tracks in the evening for a price you set
- Create playlists on your iPod and have your perfect wedding music

My favourite has to be using an iPod. It takes time to create the playlists, but is so worth it. It's also free if you already have something to play the music on, if you don't you'll need speakers and an amp. The best thing though, is that you'll always have your wedding music with you wherever you go – a great memory of your special day.
