Tips and Ideas for Cheap
Wedding Veils

You don't have to spend a fortune on a veil as there are plenty of cheap wedding veils areound. When I was looking at dresses, I found the cost of veils extortionate – just for a bit of decorated netting. Plus you only wear it for a couple of hours and then take it off.

In the end, I opted not to wear a veil, as I didn’t think it would work with my short dress, but for you, there are plenty to ways to work around the cost of wedding veils.

Borrow your friend's or relative's
Wedding veilBorrowing a veil is one way to ensure you have the ‘borrowed’ of ‘something old, new, borrowed, blue’ – it will also save you a lot of bother.

To make sure you don’t look identical to your friend, wear it slightly differently, add a tiara or ask to add some extra sequins, beads or trim to it, but ask first!

Second hand dress agencies
Many second hand dress agencies have new and used wedding dresses and accessories. With online dress agencies springing up all over the place, you can pick up a veil from about £30.

Ebay is another good source for cheap wedding veils - many of which are under £20.

My favourite charity shop is Oxfam, especially as they have lot of bridal stores stocking end of lines, samples and secondhand veils (and wedding dresses too). You should be able to pick a veil for up to 30% off – and you’ll be helping a charity.

Make your own veil
Veils are pretty simple to make, so if you’re feeling adventurous, why not try making your own? Most haberdasheries stock veil tulle and the accessories you need to make your veil. They’ll also be able to give you advice on how to make it.

If you get really stuck, Vogue, Burda, Butterick, McCalls, and Simplicity all have good basic bridal veil patterns. Simply follow the instructions included in the pack.
