Cheap Wedding Venue On New Years Eve?

by Denise
(Swansea, UK)

We’re looking for a cheap wedding venue for New Years Eve 2008. We’ve got a year to go and finding a venue at a reasonable price is troublesome. Have you got any ideas???

Answer:

I think a cheap wedding venue on New Year’s Eve is always going to be tricky. Venues know they can charge over the odds as this special day commands a premium. Plus you’ll have to pay extra costs for staff wages; both on NYE and possibly on New Year’s Day for the tidy up too!

What you should do is try to think about this a little differently. Don’t go for venues that are likely to be popular with people wanting to celebrate. So avoid hotels, restaurants and pubs.

Instead, think about cheap wedding venues that are unlikely to be used on this particular day. For example, some National Trust properties may not be used at this time (they may also be closed completely, so your options may be limited here).

Village halls are also unlikely to be used, and even more unlikely to be booked this far in advance. So get in quick!

Another option would be conference centres. Although not the most beautiful of buildings, you can create a little oasis with your decor once you’ve got your space.

So try to think a little differently and always keep an eye out for a cheap wedding venue. ;o)

New Year's Catering
by: Giraffe Baby

You could approach a local college to help you out eg. catering dept may have a brasserie and students may volunteer for £60 wages each for the night + food costs. The music dept could do your DJ-ing and lighting and if you get the photography dept in on it too you could end up with a good wedding on the cheap!

Some colleges may offer to give you extras or discounts if they can use your photos to promote the college and the students can use it to count towards final marks.

How about if you're getting married in church, if they have a large hall, use that ensuring a one stop venue. This is especialy great if they're trying to raise money for roof repairs etc.

Best of luck
