Decorating A Wedding Venue

We're looking for wedding decoration ideas to cover wood panelling in our wedding venue. The venue is a lovely old converted church, but unfortunately, it has wood panelling. Any ideas? Thanks.

There are plenty of ways you can cover unsightly walls in your venue, so all is not lost.

The easiest and cheapest way to do it is to use tulle drapes. Tulle is the fabric that is used for wedding veils.

It comes in large rolls, a multitude of colours and is quite cheap. You can simply attach it to the top of the wood panelling and cut to the length you need. You could then decorate it further with swags or bows made from the left over tulle, satin ribbon or flowers (silk or fresh).

Alternatively, you could ask a marquee company to come in and decorate the internal walls of the church. They'll put up the standard drapes and swags that you see inside a marquee quite easily, covering any nasty bits of wall. The good thing about this is that the marquee company will do a professional job, but of course it will cost you. It would be worth checking out though as they'll clear it away too and you won't have endless amounts of tulle left over!

If your budget doesn't extend to fully covering the walls with fabric, you could just use drapes in certain areas. Corners can be brightened up with a fabric drape and flower arrangement or some tactically placed fairy lights.

Finally, don't worry too much about the walls. Once your tables set up and the flowers are in the room, your guests won't notice the walls. Dressed tables really bring a room to life and of course, once you enter the room, all eyes will be on you and your new husband!
