How do I put three cake tiers on top of each other? Each tier will be on its own small board. The shape is heart and the sponge will be covered in white chocolate paste. How do I put the cakes on top of each other without them falling please? Thank you, Debbie

Answer:

Thanks for your question Debbie. A lot of people ask this question and it's really quite simple. You have two options:

1. Use a cake stand.
These are often metal and come in all sorts of styles. It's the easiest way to display your wedding cakes, however with this method, you are displaying the cakes, rather than stacking them on top of one another. Cake stands can be hired easily from cake equipment shops or from online.

2. Use pillars and/or dowels to stack the cakes.
If you want to have the cakes sitting on top of one another, then you'll need to support the weight of the cakes, otherwise they'll sink into the bottom layer! You can do this by using dowels that run through the middle of the cake and support the cake board. You can find details of how to do this in this answer on 'how do I assemble a three tier wedding cake?'

I hope that helps.

Nicola
