How Much Sheet Or Cutting Cake Is Required?

I only want a small 4-6-10 inch wedding cake to display for cutting. We intend to saving the top layer for our anniversary. I want the rest to be sheet or cutting cakes for serving. What size sheet cakes (2 layers) are needed to feed 150 people? The cake will be plain yellow cake with butter cream filling and frosting.

Answer:

See the dimensions below to determine what size you will need for 150 people, it will depend on how you cut the cake.

It looks like a full sheet cake and a half sheet cake will be your best bet unless you’re planning to also serve the 6 inch and 10 inch tiers you mention above.

In that case you could probably get away with just a full sheet cake.

1/4 Sheet cake:
8" x 12" = 24 servings if cut 2" x 2" OR 16 servings if cut 2" x 3"

1/2 Sheet cake:
12" x 16" = 49 servings if cut 2" x 2" OR 32 servings if cut 2" x 3"

Full Sheet cake:
16" x 24" = 96 servings if cut 2" x 2" OR 64 servings if cut 2” x 3"

I hope that helps!

Nicola
