Warehouse Sales
Many designers will have warehouse sales to sell off the end of stock. They’re a great place to pick up a bargain, but a word of advice, be prepared. Make sure you know exactly what you’re looking for (i.e. designer, style and size). If you go to browse, you’re unlikely to find anything through the scrum of brides-to-be!
Internet Dress Agencies
There are a number of online dress agencies selling second hand wedding dresses where you can easily pick up a once worn designer dress at a great price. There are even listings on this site for second hand wedding dresses, so start your search now.
Auction Sites
There are several large auction sites on the internet which have hundreds of inexpensive wedding dresses listed. eBay is of course the best. End of Line Sales
At the end of each season, all wedding dress shops will have a sale, where you can get some great discounts. Again, know what you want and it should be quite painless!
High Street
There are several shops on the high street that offer very affordable wedding dresses. Monsoon's bridal section (www.monsoon.co.uk) is great and most of the department stores also have good ranges. Have a look around, you maybe surprised at what you can find. And don’t forget, with any wedding dress, for a perfect fit it will probably need altering!
There’s usually a good dress agency in most towns that will bring lonely, but well looked-after dresses together with thrifty shoppers. You should be able to find some excellent priced, excellent quality wedding dresses in these shops.
Wedding Shows
There are several large wedding shows throughout the year and often they have rack upon rack of inexpensive wedding dresses, many of which are at discount prices because you buy what you see. This means it’s been tried on by a hundred other girls and may have some small marks on it. If you don’t mind this, then you’ll get a bargain.
Charity Shops
Many charity shops have second-hand wedding dresses and in early summer, you should be able to find several in each shop. Often these are a little out of date in the fashion stakes, but could make the base for a great dress if you’re willing to do some alternations. Many of the larger stores often have more modern dresses.
Oxfam has several dedicated wedding stores, where you’ll be sure to pick up a bargain. Many of the dresses are from fashion shows, are samples or end of lines and have never been worn. These stores are popping up all over the country and there's now one in most major cities.
Vintage shops
Vintage shops often have a great range of Victorian, Edwardian or vintage wedding dresses and often come with a low price tag. These styles of dress are becoming more fashionable, but at the same time, they're all unique.
