Lovely Low Cost Wedding

We recently had a fantastic low cost wedding all done on a tiny budget. We live in Spain but had the ceremony in Gibraltar. We only invited 19 guests to the actual wedding and reception lunch, but had another reception party the next day at our house (more about that in a min).

Firstly I bought my dress and shoes online, totally about £65. The groom's clothes came to £60. We had our rings made for us at a local jewellers. They were chunky silver with names and dates ingraved on the inside - they are lovely and cost £60 pounds for both!

After the ceremony we had a lovely lunch at a little Danish restaurant. All the food and drinks came to £350. We decorated the tables with little bouquets of flowers, candles and flower petals, very simple but effective. The total for decoration was about £20. The cake was made by a local lady and cost £30!

My mother made my bouquet from locally bought flowers which cost approx £20. We asked all the guests to bring their cameras and take lots of pics to save hiring a photographer. The only big expense was the bus from our house to Gibraltar (one and half hour drive) which was £350, oh and we also had cava and pastries on the bus! £15.

So the whole day including the cost of the registry office was £1120, which was quite amazing as everything was covered and we had exactly what we wanted.

The next day we held a reception party at our house for 60 people. We provided the drinks and asked all the guests to bring a dish of food. We had a fantastic spread and the evening was great! We spent £200 in total on booze, decorations etc for this.

What restaurant did you use?
by: Darren

Hi, really nice photos of the dining area....
What Danish restaurant did you go to in Gibraltar, as my gf and I are getting married also this year, and have a fairly small budget.

well done!

I'm trying to do the same. I am getting married next year and I can't wait. I'm on a tight budget also as I've just bought a new house but I've spent only £250 so far. This has gone on 3 bouquets, 2 flowergirl dresses, shoes, tiara, all the venue decorations and favours etc. I spent alot on our honeymoon - over £1300 but it's totally worth it and we deserve it lol. Budget weddings can be done if you look in the right places and if you are prepared to work hard! Congratulations by the way, you did fantastic. Hope mine goes as well. I will post the results on here soon, jay x

congratulations!

Well done! The pictures look so pretty. What an amazing way to spend your day. By having a small wedding you can invite only the people that are most important to you. We're thinking of doing something similar to avoid having to invite everybody that my mother-in-law to be has ever spoken to!!
