New Year's Eve Wedding 2010

I am planning to get married on 31st December 2010 and would like some ideas for the meal and reception. It is my second marriage so I would like it to be a small intimate affair.

Even though you are looking to have a small intimate affair, a black tie event would still be appropriate and very festive since it is New Year’s Eve. This isn’t a must, but it would be a fun theme for NYE. Many venues will already be decorated for the festive season, so you won’t require many decorations.

Now would be the perfect time to stock up on NYE noise makers, hats, and horns to use as party favours and table decorations. Other ideas for party favours are mini personalised bottles of champagne.

For meal ideals, it really depends on the type of reception and time of your reception whether you serve dinner or finger foods. A popular trend is having food stations which is less formal than a sit down dinner but nicer than a regular buffet. The stations can include a carving station with roast beef, ham or turkey; a pasta station with different pasta and sauce choices, and a salad station.

This is probably the only time I'd recommend sending out 'save the date' cards as you'll want to make sure your guests keep your wedding date free. Send the cards out at least 6-8 months in advance, so that your guests can plan for your NYE wedding.
