Polka Dot Wedding

We are going for a classic, vintage theme with our wedding. Our main theme is black with white polka dots with red accents. What are some good ideas for adding additional polka dot decorations, more specifically centrepieces, flowers and decor?

That sounds like a fun wedding theme and quite different too. I’m sure you’ll have a great time pulling it all together. Some ideas that I thought of were as follows:

For flowers, you might have difficulty finding black flowers as they’re hard to source, but it is possible to get roses, tulips and iris in black, so speak to your florist. If you can’t get hold of them, then think about special flower spray paint or you could silk flowers. For the polka dot theme, I would try to stick with flowers that are round shaped, so daisies, dahlias, hydrangea or marigolds. These are all reasonably hardy flowers so you could spray them as well – but check with your florist.

For your tables, I’d use confetti in black, white and red for your dolka dot theme. You could use white tablecloths with black napkins and a spotty ribbon around the napkin as a napkin holder. I’d also add a polka dot ribbon elsewhere around the venue to accent your theme – perhaps as streamers, banners or balloon ties.

You can also get black and white polka dot balloons, stationery, napkins, tablecloths, vases and lanterns. So you can really go to town with your theme! I would be careful though as it will be easy to go over the top. You’ll need to work out what the delicate balance of spots will be at your reception!
