Popular Wedding Songs
for Civil Weddings
Popular wedding songs are often used for the bride's entrance at a civil wedding ceremony. With a civil ceremony, this is often the only time when music is played.
Choosing your wedding music is tricky with so many options out there, how do you make an impression?
When choosing the music for your entrance, you need to choose something that’s gives the guests an idea of your personality or fits with your chosen theme. Perhaps your favourite song of all time, your favourite love song or a song that is special between you and your partner.
The song is going to be special. It needs to announce your arrival and set the tone for the wedding. With a civil ceremony you have the opportunity to have a bit of fun with the ceremony music as well. I was once at a wedding where the bride entered to ‘Pink is My Favorite Color” – a dramatic entrance followed by beautiful bride in a pale pink dress. The song matched her theme and personality, as well as set a tone for the wedding.
Here are some of the most popular wedding songs, but really the choice is entirely up to you!
- At Last – Etta James
- Only Time – Enya
- Come Away With Me – Norah Jones
- Appalachia Waltz – Yo-Yo Ma, Edgar Meyer, Mark O’Connor
- Unforgettable – Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole
- It’s Only Time – Magnetic Fields
- The Look of Love – Dionne Warwick and Burt Bacharach
- The Vow – Jeremy Lubbock
