Rustic Wedding Venue In The South
by Sarah Bennett
(Sevenoaks, Kent)
We have found our ideal rustic wedding venue but it is fully booked for 2008. The place in question is Huntstile Organic Farm in Somerset.
The trouble we are having is finding anywhere else that even compares. We will consider anywhere across the whole of the south of England (incl SE & SW)
Do you have any ideas?
Many thanks

Answer:
Thanks for your question Sarah. I know Huntstile Farm and it's really lovely. In fact, one of my other readers has mentioned it before!
Some of the things that make Huntstile Organic Farm such a wonderful venue are it's rustic setting, the organic food and the green principles that go behind creating a natural, down to earth and friendly atmostphere.
It's quite a contrast to the picture perfect weddings you often see these days.
So, keeping these points in mind, I've done a little research into similar venues in the south east and south west of England. Here are your options:
1. Hazelwood House in Devon Hazelwood House is an early Victorian country house that primarily focuses on B&Bs. However, it is set in a wonderful woodland littered with sculptures.
They also seem to have a fairly relaxed approach to weddings (in terms of style), which is why I thought it may be good for you. You can find out more about Hazelwood House here.
2. Penrhos Court, Herefordshire This old manor farm set in the Herefordshire countryside focuses their weddings on local, organic food and they market themselves as a 'green wedding venue'. The setting is also relaxed and I'm sure you could still arrange to arrive on a tractor! Discover more about Penrhos here.
3. Matara in Gloucestershire Matara focuses on providing weddings that don't compromise your lifestyle or values. They offer green and eco-friendly wedding services, including locally sourced, organic food.
The grounds are quite tranquil and calming, rather than a rustic farm. Saying that, you may want to have a look around as they are highly committed to sustainability. Find out more about Matara's green weddings here.
Just to let you know, I don't have any affiliation with any of these venues. I also haven't seen these venues in the flesh, so I can't guarantee the quality of the venue or service. I suggest you speak to them and if you like them, visit them.
Good luck with your planning and I hope that helps!
Best wishes
