Stacking A Bought Wedding Cake

I have bought the traditional wedding cake 3 sponge tiers from M&S, however I do not want to use pillars between each layer as shown in the picture below and would just like to stack them on top of each other.

Will this be possible and how do I do it exactly, my party is on Saturday and I'm scared they will just sink through each other.

Thanks for your help
Laura

Answer

The best way to do a stacked cake without pillars is to use dowels between the layers for extra support.

Each layer you are stacking will need to be iced on a cardboard or plywood plate that is the exact same size as that layer (alternatively, cover the board with ribbon).

Place three dowels in the bottom layer and cut them so they are the exact height of that layer. Repeat for each layer so that each one (except for the top layer) has the support dowels.

Best of luck, I’m sure your cake will turn out beautifully.
