Transporting Wedding Flowers

by Helen
(Scotland)

We're doing our own wedding flower arrangements using silk flowers. The church and venue are 90 minutes drive from the house and so we need to transport the arrangements. We'll need to do this on the day of the wedding as we won't have time the day before. What's the best way to transport them in the car?
Thanks

Answer:

You need to be careful with wedding flowers as they tend to be very delicate and often quite large.

Luckily you've chosen to use silk flowers, which is a very wise move. You won't have any issues with wilting in hot weather or potential damage to the leaves or petals from any knocks.

There are few things you can do to minimise damage and ensure safe arrival of your silk flower arrangements though.

Place the flowers on a non-slip, flat surface (i.e. the boot of the car) and use a layer of foam to create a non-slip surface. You can get this foam from kitchen shops or from direct mail catalogues like Betterware or Lakeland.

When you get to your wedding location, rally a couple of people to help move them. If they're large arrangements you may need a couple of people to carry them, so organise this in advance.

Finally, I would suggest driving carefully!

All the best

Nicola
