Village Hall Or Reasonably Priced Venue?

We’re looking for a nice, reasonable priced venue between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth or there abouts. We have only viewed 2 places so far and I’m trying to weigh up whether to go for a hotel or do things ourselves either in a hall or marquee.

Answer:

I’m a big fan of village halls, especially since many of them have had grants to be refurbished or rebuilt since the millennium, so you can often find smart, modern buildings with good space. Best of all they’re really cheap and come with all the equipment you need.

There are several very nice village halls between Kidderminster and Bridgnorth. I’ve located them on the map below. My favourites are Bayton Village Hall (B on map) and Abberley Vilage Hall (F on map). They look like modern, attractive buildings, but without seeing them in person or knowing them, it’s difficult to know whether they’re suitable for a wedding. Most village halls are suitable, but you’d need to have a look at them yourself. There are several others also pinpointed on the map.

You’ll spend a lot more on a hotel as you’re paying for their services, but you won’t have to do as much organising and everything will (or should) run like clockwork on the day. It’s entirely up to you, but I’d go for a village hall. It’s a country setting, they’re pretty and you’ll spend a fraction of the price of a hotel reception!
