Every bride needs wedding accessories. It’s an opportunity to glam up your wedding day without breaking the bank too much, especially if you’ve been frugal with your wedding dress. But when you add up the cost of your veil, tiara, shoes, hair accessories, make-up and lingerie, you can be talking about hundreds of pounds.

Surprisingly, this is an area where it’s really easy to overspend. A new lipstick here, some cute hairgrips there and little manicure here...

Suddenly, there’s an extra £50-£100 that you’re not counting! Whatever you buy for your wedding, be honest with yourself and don’t forget to include it in your wedding budget.

With each element of your bridal accessories, there are clever ways to save and of course, the best places to shop to find those bargains. So before you hurry off and start to spend, think about what you really need and how or where you could get it cheaper...

There are some quick and simple ways to save money on your all-important accessories. From borrowing to making some of them yourself, you’ll be surprised at how easy it can be.

Wedding veils for instance, are easy to make yourself. So forget the £100 versions in the wedding boutiques and discover how you could spend little over £30 for virtually the same veil!

Bridal shoes are another good example. In the summer months, many of the department stores have white or cream satin court shoes and sandals. Perfect for your wedding day and many under £25 (try BHS – they’ve always got a good selection).

Bridal Emergency Kit

Every bride needs a bridal emergency kit on her wedding day. This little kit will contain all the essentials you need to stay beautiful as well rescue you (and your bridesmaids) should the need arise. It's one of the most important wedding accessories you'll need!

Your bridesmaids will carry this for you and always have it on hand, just in case it’s needed. You can even get one of them, or the mother of the bride, to organise it for you, that way you’ll save the cash!

• Make-up - powder, blusher and lipstick or gloss
• Spare stockings or tights
• Needle and thread
• Safety pin
• Sanitary towel and/or tampon
• Tissues
• Hairspray
• Ibuprofen or paracetamol
• Scissors
• Flip-flops (for comfort later on)
