How to cut the cost of your catering budget

Ask the expert

Answer:

Splitting up your budget and putting a percentage next to each item is a really good way to see where your money is being spent. However, every wedding is different and frequently with couples on a budget, they have different priorities. For some, the photographer is more important, for others it’s the dress, but they’re willing to forego in centain areas to make their budget work. This is why I don’t tend show the wedding budget by percentages.

As a general rule though, the catering and drinks will probably be the most expensive area within your budget. It very much depends on what you’re planning to serve and how you’re planning to serve it, but I would recommend allowing approximately 15-25% of your budget for these two elements This figure doesn’t include the cost of the venue hire, it’s just for catering and drinks.

It is very much down to you, so I’d carefully work out the figures by getting some quotes in or working out how much you think it’s going to cost you.

I hope that helps.

Nicola
