Wedding Insurance Gives You Peace of Mind
A question often asked is ‘do I need wedding insurance?’. A difficult question really as not everyone likes to fork out money for insurance. Sometimes though, it’s good to have that peace of mind, especially for your big day.
Whether you're spending thousands or budgeting for a cheap wedding, you still may want to consider insurance. One way to look at it is, if you had to call off the wedding for some unknown reason, would you be able to shell out again for the things you’ve paid for? If the answer is no, then you should probably consider getting insurance.
Insurance also covers you for the unexpected on the day. Perhaps the photographer is sick, you damage your dress or the venue gets flooded – you’ll get cover against cancellation and rearrangement of your wedding. Most insurance companies won’t be able to whip up a new venue or provide a healthy photographer on demand, but they will give you compensation so you can rearrange it.
Even on a basic package, suppliers, venues, gifts, rings and outfits are usually all included in the quote. If you want more cover, then you simply choose a more appropriate level of cover for your needs.
More often than not, you can extend the cover to your honeymoon as well, so you can wrap your wedding and travel insurance up in one. This gives you the perfect cover during this special time.
When I got married I was very lucky. The day after the wedding, I got bit on my forehead by an insect. The following day my forehead and eyes were all swollen – there was no way I would have got married! The moral is, you never know when something’s going to happen, so having the peace of mind ensures you don’t have to worry.
If you do decide to take wedding insurance, make sure you shop around - quotes can vary significantly for the same amount of cover.
