Wording for wedding invitations

Should the wedding invitation wording on the front of my reception invitations differ from those we send to people attending both the wedding and reception?

Answer:

The wording on the outside of your invitation can say anything you like, it doesn't have to be different for day and evening invites.

You could use poetry, a sonnet, a quote or something simple like 'wedding invitation'. Just make sure that inside, your insert clearly states what part of the wedding the particular guest is invited to.

So, for those attending the ceremony and the reception be clear and for those attending the evening only, be clear. Here are some examples of how this could be worded:

All day:

Mr & Mrs Simon Brown
request the honour of
your presence at the marriage
of their daughter
Nicola Jane
to
Mr John Smith
at St Michael’s Church, Oxford
on Saturday 12th June
at 2 o’clock
and afterwards at
The Priory Hotel

Evening only:

Mr & Mrs Simon Brown
request the honour of
your presence at an
evening reception
to celebrate the marriage
of their daughter
Nicola Jane
to
Mr John Smith
on Saturday 12th June
from 7.30pm onwards
at The Priory Hotel

All the best

Nicola
