Wedding Photo Albums - Tips And Advice

Most wedding photographers will provide wedding photo albums as part of their package. But, if like me, you didn’t have professional photographer, you’ll need to find your own.

Shopping for your album

When you start to look around, most wedding albums on the high street are quite tacky and not something that'll protect your memories for the rest of your life. You can pick up a cheap album for about £10 though.

The other extreme is highly stylish and made to last, but very expensive. The likes of John Lewis and some of the other high-end department stores have really lovely albums, but the price is more like £70 and upwards. Ouch!

With the more expensive wedding photo albums, you get acid free paper and separators between each page to protect the photographs. Well worth it if you want to be able to look at your wedding photos with your grandchildren. They also tend to come in a box, which with a sachet of silica gel will protect the photographs from moisture.

It’s actually well worth investing in a good album so your photos are protected and I’d highly recommend it. Particularly, if you’re spending a lot on a photographer.

An alternative is to put your chosen wedding album on your gift list. That way, you’ll get the one that you want and you don’t have to fork out for it.

Putting your album together

Some photographers will do this for you as part of your package. Others, you’re given the shots and you do it yourself.

If you’re putting your wedding album together yourself, think carefully about the order of the shots. Should you follow the order of the day or mix it up – breaking up the day with shots of guests or wedding objects.

You should also think about which shots go next to each other in the album. You’ll want to make sure the two shots work together and complement each other.

Wedding photo albums can also extend to your family. You might want to give a small album to each others parents as a memento of the day. It’s a lovely way for them to treasure and remember the day as well.
