What Wedding Stationery Do You Need?

Whether you’re buying or making your wedding stationery, it’s important to know what pieces you need. From wedding invitations to place cards, here I cover all the wedding stationery you might need and how to save on each of these as well.

You’re likely to need the following:

Wedding Invitations
Bowed wedding invitationYour invites are traditionally sent out about 3 months before the wedding. This gives your guests plenty of time to ensure they have no clashes, make any necessary travel arrangements and book hotels – this is especially important for those coming from overseas. With your wedding invitations, you usually include information about the event, accommodation and gift list.

RSVP or Acceptance cards
These little cards are usually sent out with the invitations. Usually, you provide an envelope with a reply address and a postage stamp, so it’s as easy as possible for your guest to respond.

Order of Service
The Order of Service is given out at the ceremony and usually includes information on what is going to happen during the ceremony. For a church wedding, the hymns, readings, vows and information on the date and venue would be included. For a civil service, you might get information on venue, date and any poems or speeches.

Seating Plan
If you’re having a sit-down meal, you will need to provide a seating plan – it will make seating your guests a lot easier!

Table Place Cards
These are little cards that indicates who is sat at each table setting.

Menus
Depending on the type of event you’re having, you may want to get menus printed in your theme as well.

Thank you cards
Once the dust settles after the big day, you will need to thank the guests for their gifts and attending the wedding. You’ll need to send these to everyone who sent a gift, even if they didn’t attend. So make sure you get extra!

Cake boxes
It’s customary to send a piece of cake to friends and relatives who couldn’t make it to the wedding. This is often sent in a small cake box, which can be printed with your wedding theme.

Including all these pieces of stationery will be an expensive business, so here’s some ideas to help you cut the cost of your wedding stationery, and some inspiration if you decide to make your own.
