Wedding Venue Dispute

We went and viewed a wedding venue and the hotel told us everything that was outlined in the brochure was what we would get. We were told we could also bring in our own caterers and that we would have a complimentary room.

Now though, they saying this is not the case and that we would have to use their catering. Initially this was fine, but now they're back tracking on the complimentary room as well.

We have paid a deposit and now they are changing their mind. They're being really unhelpful, especially since the lady I dealt with has now left. I'm really upset. Any advice?



I’m sorry that you’re having trouble with your wedding venue. That has to be very stressful for you since it’s one of the biggest parts of your wedding day.

Do you have a signed contract that outlines everything you discussed with them?

I would ask to have a meeting with the new person in charge of your event and go over the contract with them. Even if you don’t have a contract, I would still suggest having a meeting so you can go over all of the details.

If you are still uncomfortable with their services, depending on when your wedding is, you may want to consider selecting another venue. You certainly don’t want to be faced with misunderstandings and empty promises on your big day. You should also be able to get your deposit back given that they have changed what they promised.
