Recommended by Kate: "The Battlefield museum is a great place for a wedding. It is in a beautiful converted barn surrounded by a stunning courtyard garden. They have agreed to clear out the museum for the day for us and let us have the room for free.

We are also getting married at Shrewsbury castle which has only cost us £300 for around 3 hours. This includes drinks on arrival, a member of staff to serve and use of the beautiful grounds for the photography. We have managed to get our whole wedding in for just under £3,000. Not bad!!!"

Recommended by Laura: "This venue is an old haunt from my childhood. It has bags of character as The Abbey Club is part of Buildwas Abbey. The function room has its own private bar, period features including a beautiful picture window and stunning grounds for picturesque photographs. The catering costs are very reasonable but there is an option to do your own catering with its own private kitchen for the function suite. It has the impact of a hotel/stately home but on a budget. Let’s put it this way it definitely doesn’t scream - budget. It screams expensive! It should definitely be on any budget conscious bride's list of possible wedding venues in Shropshire."
