Wedding Videography Solutions when Getting Married Abroad

This article has been written by guest author Andy Pag from
Wedding Streams - a wedding videography company dedicated to bringing you and your wedding guests closer together when getting married abroad.

Taking your vows on a Caribbean beach as the sun sets over the lapping waves; saying I do to the sound of Venice’s church bells, or eloping for a quick one in Vegas - there are many reasons to wed abroad, for some it’s cost, for others it’s exoticism, and for others still the stress of organising the big day sends them high-tailing to another hemisphere.

Of course there are drawbacks to tying the knot miles from home. It’s a simple fact that not all your friends are going to be able to make it, so you wont be able to share the special day with everyone you’d like, much less show off your tan against the white dress.

These days a lot of resort wedding organisers will include a wedding videography along with the services they offer. This is a great way of being able to share the day with friends when you get back, and the costs are generally pretty reasonable too, certainly compared with the minimum £1000 you can expect to pay back in Blighty. The setting alone is usually enough to make the video worth watching over and over.

But beware; videographers at resorts often have a bad reputation. So don’t be surprised if they compare to a drunken uncle with a handycam.

Avoiding the bad ones is easy. Just ask to see examples of their previous work. Is the image focused and crisp? Is it well exposed (not too dark or bleached out)? Is the audio clear or drowned out by the Mediterranean breeze grating over the microphone? Did the editing make you throw up or well up?

The reality is that most local videographers have a wealth of experience filming a ceremony that will be a first for you, but just another day at the office for them. The key thing to look for in examples of their wedding videography is evidence of their enthusiasm for filming. If it’s not there you’ll notice it straight away.

Make sure the video you get at the end will play in your player back home. Americans use a different TV system and the only way to watch their NTSC format DVDs in the UK is on a computer. So ask for our standard PAL format. WeddingSteams.co.uk is a UK company that take the idea of bringing your friends to the wedding with video one step further. We work with local wedding videography companies around the world to broadcast your wedding live over the internet on their tastefully designed and password-protected website So while you’re kissing in Corfu, your friends can cry tears of joy in Croydon, watching every second through their computers.

What makes WeddingStreams’ website really special is that during the wedding your online guests can share their thoughts and feelings with other guests in the live chat room. Best of all they can record a Video Telegram message with their webcam for you, straight on to the site. It’s designed to be so easy; your granny can do it.

You could even arrange to get the Video Telegrams shown on a big screen at your reception so your distant friends and family can be part of the day too. Not only do they see you getting married, but you see them sharing and enjoying your day. It’s the next best thing to them being there, and makes the decision to wed abroad even more appealing. All the Video Telegrams are stored on the site for a few days after the wedding so you or your family back home can watch them again and again.

You can find out if your wedding destination is covered by WeddingStreams by contacting them directly and they’ll put you in touch with their videographer on location.
