What Size Wedding Cake Stand?

Round wedding cake stand

Round wedding cake stand

I'm looking for a round silver wedding cake stand. The bottom tier is 16" (3 tiers which also include 12" and 8"); what size cake stand would look best? Would a 22" stand be too big? I can't locate a 20" - they seem to be 18" and 22".

Answer:

A general rule of thumb is for your cake stand to be 2” larger than the bottom tier of your cake.

In your case, an 18” cake stand should work perfectly for your 16” bottom tier.

I think a 22” cake stand would be too large unless you plan to decorate around the bottom with flowers.
